Weekend Recap
what an odd weekend... I feel like I got nothing done, but hey I did do a whole lot of shopping! Anyway, here are my weekend insights:
--first of all, I learned that I can successfully cook fish! lol. I figured, hey it's good for you, and I'm kind of sick of chicken, so why not try. so, I made a quick salmon recipe and it came out great! and, my cats are so well behaved that they didn't even try to eat it! how in the world did I get cats that don't like people food?! but, it also smelled up my whole house, but just the fact that it was something new and fun made my weekend! fish is fun :)
--well, like I said, I did MAJOR shopping this weekend. it is quite easy, though, to pick my favorite purchase: my new Gap jeans!!! see, now some of you out there apparently did not grow up in Gap jeans, but I did-- I remember my first pair in elementary school (black jeans when they were in style) all the way up to my favorite high school pair (classic #13 button flys). But then I discovered other brands and I forgot Gap for awhile, but then I found the most PERFECT pair ever on Saturday! so, I splurged a little. but they are worth it. they make my ass look fantastic and they are SO comfy. in fact, they are oddly reminiscent of the ass jeans involved in the sophomore year sorority greek sing practice when I paraded around all night and then told poor Laura Krolak how lucky she was to be behind me because she got to look at my ass. and that apparently has become sorority legend... :) anyway, I don't know what it is, but something about these jeans makes me ridiculously happy. they are wonderful.
--a lot of you know too I took Friday off as a study day... well, knock on wood I think I may have passed my first CCPCU test Saturday morning!!!! I am not sure yet, but I really felt like I knew most of the answers. but, you never know with those things. so, my goal may now be achievable: if you complete your CPCU (8 college type courses), the company sends you all expenses paid with a guest to wherever the national CPCU conference is the next year. well, if I complete all 8 by June 2007, I go to HAWAII!!!! woooohoooo! so, I have made this my goal and I have already decided I will take my mom with me. and when I called her and told her to start packing, she thought I was a little odd, but oh well :)
--on another note, because I took that test Saturday morning and then helped cover the floor for a shift during Chris's party that night, I felt like I never left that damn place. and I definitely work too much-- for instance, I even tried to use the word "kust" in Text Twist!!!! terrible, I know. and on the note of Chris's party-- work fuctions outside of work are just weird. you still can't be yourself because it's still your bosses and your peers and all, but everything else about it screams party. never know quite how to act! so odd...
--I also need to stop going to Wal-Mart. everytime I go, I get so confused and then I wonder if I'm going crazy! see, both Super Wal-Marts close to here look the same when you walk in-- food on the right, cosmetics and health stuff on the left... but everything else is completely different! and I can never figure out which one I'm in and where I need to park and go! Wal-Marts are so ridiculous anyway. I wish there were smaller places that could compete with them... but I'm the one saying this and still shopping there, so it's my own damn fault.
--and in one other note, I was at Hecht's on Satuday ringing up my purchases, and I asked the somewhat condescending old woman if the Lynnhaven store would become a Macy's. and the answer I got was "nothing is official until the goverment approves the deal!" as though I had been the 100th person to insult her by asking. so, we'll see :)
--and lastly, 4 days til SAN ANTONIO!!!!!! AND, we fly in on ST. PATRICK'S DAY and have NOTHING to do until the next morning! woooooohooooooo for good times on River Walk!!!! and, my boss told Steph and I that he would be upset if we didn't drink on the plane, although I'm not sure whether or not he was joking and have decided not to find out. but man, all I can say is that CC is not going to know what hit her!
k back to laundry... hope you all had fun this weekend!!!

There are plenty of places that compete with Walmart, or with segments of it. But an obvious direct competitor would be Target, which does very well. Most drug-stores, the bigger ones anyway, carry a lot of the same stuff. And there are a lot of specialty stores that carry only housewares, or only clothes, or only DVDs, that compete successfully; because even though Walmart beats most people on price, they don't always have what you want. Or they're too crowded (my main complaint). Or they're inconveniently located.
