Tuesday Picks & Pans... on Thursday

okay I'm already tired of packing, so here's this week's list... and yes, it's late again. we may have to move this Tuesday stuff!

PICKS

Tivo-- okay so it's Cox DVR and not Tivo brand, but same difference-- I LOVE it!!!! I don't know how I've gone so long without it! one click and I'll never miss Gilmore Girls again :)

the new diet sensation: getting sick-- I lost 5 pounds in two days! hahaha. and yes, this is completely tongue in cheek-- I fully recommend eating...

compliments-- there is nothing as wonderful as a sincere compliment. and for some reason everyone loved me when I got back to work Wednesday! I got a ridiculous amount-- my favorite though were the ones on my new outfit (yay outlets!), that I look thin (yay gym!), my makeup (who knows why, I didn't change anything except adding a great new Clinique color), and my adorable new Dooney (yay just because it's so cute!). and compliments are ALWAYS a pick, so if you'd ever like to send any my way, feel free :Þ

106.1-- this station advertises that it plays all of the hits, not just some of them, and so far, it seems to be true... I think it's digging 94.9, who refuses to play hip hop or some normal pop but is otherwise pretty good. I am hoping 106.1 will actually be the first normal variety Virginia Beach hits station...

hiphop twice a week-- woohoo for another class during the week and a faster paced Wednesday class! I love hip hop. I still probably look really stupid, but hey, it's fun! (one, two, three UH UH :Þ)

gadgets-- I have realized that I am definitely a gadget girl... from my car's nav system to my iPod, to my Palm Pilot (aka Pete), to my new wonderful digital camera... when did I become a tech nerd?!

Oprah-- still lover her. and now I can Tivo her! did anyone else see the dreams episode with the kid and Mariah Carey? awwwww!!!!!! the wildest dreams episodes are definitely my favorites.

PANS

getting sick-- other than the sudden weight loss, being sick sucks. thank god it passed as suddenly as it came on. I think Sunday and Monday were quite close to the most miserable days of my life. and like I said, I am terrible at being sick...

having difficult conversations-- yeah I took the class and all (damn management classes), but I can't figure out how to relate it to telling Six Foot Four I don't want to date him anymore! anyone have any ideas? I am such a wimp with boys!

Anthony Federov-- those of you that watch American Idol may know who he is... well, he is my connection to the show this year, as he is from Bucks County. in fact, he follows in the Bucks County tradition of the oh-so-successful Justin Guarini in season 1, and my random connection to the show in MWC Mark in season 2, who auditioned doing the Beaver Song that we used to sing in IV. and believe me, seeing Paula Abdul doing the beaver jive was priceless. but I digress. anyway, I don't like Anthony. besides just kind of annoying me in general, he reminds me of the Russian invasion that took over my high school and now resides permanently in Neshaminy Mall. they traveled in packs, they had rumors of mafia ties, and you just knew they were talking about you and you just couldn't understand them... and that is why I will not vote for Anthony. well, I probably won't vote at all, but if I do it won't be for him! and I have also decided that my teenage grudge is a good reason not to :)

when people try to ruin stuff-- the worst part is, I think (hope at least) that they do it unconsciously. and i'm not gonna explain this too much (sorry if it doesn't make any sense), but it's something that makes me SO mad.

boys who create drama-- luckily don't have one, but can understand vicariously. grrrrr. boys are supposed to be the SIMPLE ones! and drama isn't good for anyone.

rude ignorant kids-- ok so I Tivo'd Wife Swap (yes, the addiction is already out of control), and there was this kid this week that I wanted to reach through the TV and SLAP! he is 17 but already thinks he knows everything about everything and had no respect for what anyone else believed, which is exactly what he was trying to prove he was above. and the parents TAUGHT him to rebel against all authority and then wondered why even they couldn't control him. oooooh stupid kids make me mad... okay random vent over :) and I can't believe I'm already complaining about "kids these days"! lord I'm old... ;)

packing-- yeah and now I've gotta get back to it. goal: don't forget anything this time!!!

Happy weekend everyone! I know I will be enjoying mine: old friends, lots of fun, and MACY'S! :) have fun with whatever you're up to too!!!!

As someone who's been on the other side of this far more often than I want to think--just be honest and straight with him. If you dodge him and hope he gets the hint, he'll just twist in the wind. In the end it's far more merciful to hurt him a little NOW than to hurt him a lot over time as he wonders what goes on.

That's if he's the sensitive type. If he's an oaf than who cares?

I've recently been in a similar predicament. Luckily, "good luck at your interview next week" seemed to effectively say I have no interest in talking to you in the meantime. However, when guys simply can't take the hint, my favorite is "look, i've been talking to my ex again" or "i've got this complicated friendship with one of my guy friends..." Either of those scenarios put in an unavailable position. Even if the guy realizes it just means you're not into him, neither of you have to come out and say that and it's just easier.

AND may I add a pick- Pittsburgh FINALLY has Macy's. and they sell bras in my size. YAY!!!!!!!

Al :-)
