Tuesday Amusement

nope, not NEARLY Friday yet...

anyway, I had my first eye doctor appointment ever today. I just figured I should get my eyes checked since I have had random problems. Lately, it's eye twitching for no apparent reason. And it's driving me crazy. But also, in recent times I have had issues with staring at a computer screen all day and then dealing with tearing, blurriness, and sometimes headaches. Plus, the rest of my family succumbed to glasses around my age, so I figured it was worth it to see what was up.

So, I went. and the doctor they gave me was ENTIRELY too cheerful. so don't trust those people-- they so have to be going home and kicking their dogs! but anyway-- the entirely too cheerful doctor blew air in my eyes and made me look at weird pictures and read lines of letters... and then she gave me the awful truth. Yes, I could wear glasses... you read that right. I could wear glasses IF my eyes are bothering me at the computer. and for that she wrote me the incredibly strong prescription of... drumroll please... +.05 for each eye. and right before she gave it to me, she asked if I was sure the headaches weren't stress. So, I really think she was just humoring me.

Anyway, $62 down the tubes. But at least I know my eyes are fine for at least a few years.

So anyway, since my eyes are still twitching, I decided to look up possible causes. gotta love the internet :) I was a little worried, though, when the first site said the twitching might be a sign of alcoholism... Luckily all the later sites said it's probably just stress or fatigue. woohoo! So, I can still hate work, and I can keep drinking!

Lastly, in other random Tuesday amusement, check this out. SO funny-- it's called Bag Borrow or Steal, and it's like a Netflix for bags! yup, put one on your wishlist and wait for it to get sent, then keep it as long as you want and just pay the monthly fee. But then I noticed that to get a top designer bag is $99 a month PLUS an extra $150 PLUS insurance PLUS charges for wear and tear. So really, what's the point?! But, I still thought it was just about the funniest little Internet club thing I have ever seen! what a crazy world.

So anyway, hope you enjoyed the random Tuesday amusement. back another day when I feel like writing...

link(s) of the day

I must say, I did think it was weird to be getting all these referrals from this blog, until I visited and discovered that I am linked. And, it is quite odd also, that while I have no idea who Julian is, he is from Pittsburgh, so really I could know him from somewhere (still don't think I do, though). But, anyway, the link is why I think the blog world is so fun; it somehow makes the world a little bit smaller. So, visit his blog, too-- not sure what's on it, but hey, if he likes what I write (or, used to write when I actually kept my blog up), then he must be a stand up guy :Þ

Now, if you want a somewhat more disturbing link of the day, visit here-- it's not really disturbing (it is natural after all), it's just that I was kind of shocked when it came up as a news picture on my Yahoo webpage! lol! and after Oprah had a whole show on Friday about the problems with sex in the media! (hehehehehe)

anyway-- off to take my car in for its 20,000 mile service (sniff, they grow up so fast!) so I am off. later all.

more randomness

well, believe it or not, I had a great day at work today! yes, crazy I know! but anyway, today was just a great day in general, so I thought I'd share some fun. (in other words, I still am not in a real writing mood!)

So, first of all, here is my absolute favorite yearly link. Dave Barry cracks me up! His Year in Review column seriously is the best part of every New Year's Day paper.

K second awesome thing: Cardio Cinema! I had wondered where all my precious EFX ellipticals went at the gym... well, they did renovations, and now they have this new cardio cinema room. It's dark, and in front of you is a GIANT movie screen with sound, so you can work out and watch a movie! That HAS to be the coolest thing ever! Now I just need to try it and see if it is as practical as it is fun...

last thing-- does anyone have any moving advice? See, my lease is up again in March, and I'm going through my yearly commitment-phobe phase. Seriously-- I never meant to stay in Virginia Beach forever, and every year signing a lease for a whole nother year seems too permanent! PLUS, I pay a RIDICULOUS amount of rent to live alone, and while living alone certainly has its perks, I can't stand the expense anymore. I want to do more frivolous clothes shipping :Þ So, this year I am looking for a roommate, and then I figure we can find a fun new place. I figure even a couple hundred less than I'm paying now would be nice, and it would certainly get us a kick ass place to live. Anyone know of anyone who would want to share a place???? Or, anyone have any advice about all this in general??? I have to figure this out before the end of the month!

Anyway, I am off to do some major vegging. It's already been a very long week. Later all!

Happy MLK Day!

okay NOT that I'm at all jealous that I had to work today and my boyfriend got to spend the day on the golf course or anything... (yeah, really... not jealous) but anyway-- just had to share this link because the whole premise cracked me up. I mean really. We needed a poll for this? No disrespect to anyone or anything (obviously MLK was a great man), I just think that if this is really news, the world is in a sad sad state. and that's today's commentary :) hope everyone out there enjoyed their days today! (nope, still not jealous!) :Þ

update

Okay, well I figure keeping this whole blog resolution is at least easier than the others, so here goes... Although, I must say, I just got back from the BUSIEST gym I have ever seen in my 3 years in Virginia Beach. guess EVERYONE made new year's resolutions. thank god for the gym though, because without it I can't imagine where else I would work off all of life's frustrations. and, there are some great fringe benefits too, they say... if you like being healthy and all that :)

so, what exactly are life's frustrations?
well, lemme put it this way:
GOOD things about working for a Fortune 500 company: umm... well... I just got Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Edition for $19.95! that's a $430 savings! NICE!
BAD things about working for a Fortune 500 company: pretty much EVERYTHING ELSE

and that was my day. BUT, I DO have good news! and NO it has nothing to do with car insurance. actually, I came across the cutest little list in my totally cheesy girl page-a-day calendar thing. And, since it made me laugh, I figured I'd share. Enjoy! :)

drinks to order if you want to turn heads in a bar (say these loudly!):
I'd like a strong Piece of Ass.
I'm really craving a Bad Habit tonight!
Get me an Absolutely Screwed Up.
I need a Big Unit pronto!
I feel like a Dirty Girl Scout Tonight.
Can you give me a Screaming Orgasm?
If not, I'll take a Vibrator.
But, I'll settle for a Horny Bull.
Or, I'll just take a Lesbian Lover

who knew bars (or calendars for that matter) could be so much fun! okay back to your regularly scheduled programming... hope you all had good days!

New Year's Resolutions (and all that)

yes, it's that time... now normally I'm not a huge resolution person, but I think I'll make some this year. Here are a few:

1--I resolve to work out at least 4 days every week (not so bad, I LIKE working out and for most of last year got 4 days in every week... I've just been lazy lately)

2--I resolve to drink water instead of diet soda and all the other crap (goes along with #1-- so need to be healthier)

3--I resolve NOT to sweat the small stuff.

4--I resolve not to take work home with me. EVER. (see #3-- I don't mean physical work, I mean all the work BS. SO need to stop that)

5--I resolve to keep in touch better with all the people I care about.

6--I resolve to try to be the best friend, girlfriend, and person in general I can be.

7--I resolve to update my blog more often :Þ

Ok there you have it. I feel better now that these are at least somewhat in print. Maybe I'll actually keep some! If you have any interesting resolutions for this year, post yours.

Anyway, in other randomness, I hope everyone had a good holiday! Mine was well... interesting. My time in Pittsburgh was fabulous, and my time at home was nice I guess. It's always nice to see the family and all... this really was just a weird holiday. totally different than usual.

I'm sure, though, that this year will be one for the record books. I've already freaked my mom out ("Is that an engagement bracelet?!"), I've already worked an insane amount of hours (over holidays no less), and I've already set myself crazy goals and expectations for this year (SO need to stop overthinking!) But, I really think 2006 is going to be a standout year, and I have a feeling 26 is going to be a great age for all of us. So, whatever resolutions you make and whatever you put your heart into this year, may it bring you lots of fun and happiness. I just have a really really good feeling... :)
