1,000 Best Movies?

I recently read the most recent edition of The New York Times 1,000 Best Movies... definitely an interesting list. Some I am happy to see (How to Marry a Millionaire, To Catch a Thief, Like Water for Chocolate, even Blazing Saddles & Aladdin), others I am sad are missing (I LOVE the original Sabrina... and what about the incredible uniqueness of movies like Forrest Gump and Big Fish?), and some I just CANNOT understand how they could possibly make the list (Gosford Park? really? and wtf to Y Tu Mama Tambien! I'll mail this DVD to anyone who wants it just so I can get rid of it!)

Anyway, reading the list is kind of fun regardless. Post some thoughts if you get a chance to check it out-- let me know if your favorites are on here or what YOU think is missing...

back

Ok, I know I haven't posted in forever... well, here are the basic updates:

--first of all, it's another year of Philly sports disappointments. The Phils could've won the wildcard easily but handed it on a silver platter to Houston instead. and, well, the Eagles got clobbered by the Cowboys today, which is never pretty. so, those are two subjects I will avoid for awhile. But, I am a pseudo-Pittsburgh fan right now, so even though the Pirates were like the worst team in the majors this year, the Steelers have at least some hope. So, let's go boys! Oh, and PSU also is a current fave with a chance. Go State!

--second of all, work sucks. I won't elaborate too much on this here, but I will say that I am really just about over it. I'm also getting in one of my bored moods. I may need a change.

--BUT, let me just say the rest of life has been great! for those of you who had asked, Steph's shower went well (I think at least!) and let me just tell you if you ever have to plan a shower- the best game ever is writing down what the bride says about her gifts and repeating it back as what she'll say on her wedding night. omg I felt soooo bad b/c we thought we'd have to spice it up... yeah no spicing up needed at all. poor Steph was totally embarassed (it didn't help that her dad had just come downstairs), but I can't remember the last time I have laughed so hard. no joke! oops...

--in other notes, life at 25 (still can't believe I'm so old!) is still fabulous. It's hockey season again (woohoo!) and Friday's game was fun (thanks to the power going out! so random!), so even the non-stop rain couldn't dampen the weekend. actually, I even won something for the first time ever today and got a portable DVD player at today's company picnic. yay!

--also, as usual, life is super busy. this weekend I have a baby shower and a wedding, and then I am off to DC for work for the week (so if i don't write then, I really do have a good excuse!) :) I get to see my fave MWC girls (PLUS MACY'S!) while I'm there though so it should be fun! when I get back I am off to a management retreat for a few days and then it's bachelorette party time, so I'm sure there will be great stories then! (yup, Steph, you're in trouble... not TOO much trouble, but trouble :Þ)

--and well, the last update-- I am soooo happy right now with the boy. not sure when or how it happened, but things are just fabulous right now. giddy smiling fabulous. STILL early though so we'll see. he was in Pittsburgh this weekend which totally sucked. but, my new apartment lounge pants (stolen of course), made me happy so it's all good :) I don't know though-- at what point so you let yourself go and really get attached? my realism and my emotions are in a never-ending battle.

so, that's life lately. sorry, not as interesting as the blog suspense would make it seem :) and, tomorrow's another early gym day, so I'm off to bed. hope everyone's doing well! gnight all.
