the ramblings of a displaced Philly girl

oh well. we're used to it by now.

okay okay. so there's little to no chance left for my beloved Phils... BUT I have a new way to celebrate my home city! Does anyone else watch The Amazing Race? Let me just tell you how THRILLED I was to see the show go to Bucks County and Philly on last night's episode! It was funny too that they chose Washington Crossing-- that town has family history from my father shooting BB's at the re-enactors as a kid on the NJ side to my brother and I growing up at Washington Crossing United Methodist Church on the PA side. totally made my day! I miss home!!!

In other news, I have been a HUGE ball of stress this week trying to pass my accounting test Tuesday AND have Steph's shower organized! (it's THIS Saturday!!!!) But, I think it's coming together well. We'll see. I am definitely not cut out to be a party planner, though. But I figure as long as it's not the disaster that was my accounting test, it'll be okay. The worst part is, I'm having a really hard time even caring about class anymore! too much going on.

So, after the shower and Neptune Festival at the oceanfront this weekend, I'll be bored for a few weekends while the boyfriend is on a couple trips. Send me fun new weekend ideas! :) I also need to get out of this bad pattern in my head with him and this whole relationship... I have issues. Also, if you have any great bridal shower ideas, please post them!!!! Hope everyone's having a good week!

here we go again

I believe!!!! This is FINALLY the year of the Phils!!!
Only one game out! hmm but only 6 to play...
I mean, I sort of believe...
No really, I believe! I just hope they don't blow it AGAIN!
The Curse of Billy Penn is just dumb superstition, right?
Not that they WILL blow it, I just HOPE they don't.
No, I'm being optimistic! I said I believe!
Ok, so it's a GUARDED optimism...
(I mean come on, I am a Philly sports fan after all)

Thoughts...

If I were deaf, would you still hear me out?
If I were blind, would we still see eye to eye?
If I had no legs, would we still kick it?

hehehe. ok so come on, you have to have SOME fun at work!

but seriously, I found the below passage in one of my favorite mags and I just love it. And I still don't feel like thinking, so you get more of my randomness. but this one is fun:

"Reading for pleasure, reading a novel while you are on the bus or the train or the subway, reading a biography instead of returning your boss's e-mails, reading philosophy in the back of a seminar that your corporate team sent you to, reading a short prose poem translated from Spanish by your favorite Chilean playwright in the coffee shop, reading a movie review on line at the place where you pay your bills when you are too late to mail them-- just reading novels and books in general will greatly aid you in your pursuit not to be rich, if only in their sheer time-as-money-wasting capacity. It makes a practicing nonbazillionaire like myself tremble to consider how much money I could lose reading Anna Karenina."

--Robert Sullivan, excerpted from How Not to Get Rich: Or Why Being Bad Off Isn't So Bad

a little perspective... but being a bazillionaire still sounds like fun! (more fun than throwing myself under a train, to any degree...)

A Good Question

A good question:

Why DO men have nipples?

anyone have any ideas? :)
